A desire fueled by revenge is the most powerful one, and Tanjirou Kamado has set to the path of avenging his family’s death.
The first season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was so well received by the fans that some fans called it the ‘anime of the year.’
After the telecast of the last episode on September 28, 2019, there was little hope for the second season to return soon.
1. Release Date
There has been a lot of speculation around the renewal of the series. Still, a show this good deserves a second season.
There has been no news about season 2 of the hit series yet by the studio. Hopefully, there will be one soon.
2. Theory Section
The last episode of season 1 aired on September 28, 2019. Since then, there has been no update about the next season of the show. However, there is film releasing on October 16, 2020, which would cover the 8th arc of the manga.
One might assume that if the studio is releasing a movie on the manga, they have confidence in the show. They are most probably going to release news about the second season of Demon Slayer near to the release of the film.
There can also be a delay in any further news due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which is affecting the whole world at the moment.
Let’s take a look at some of the factors that might affect the production of season 2.
I. Financial Standing
The series had sold around 40.3 million copies as of February 2020. Demon Slayer became the top-selling manga by recently defeating the decade-long champion — One Piece.
II. Animation Quality
With beautiful animation and jaw-dropping action scenes, Ufotable did a real good job adapting the manga into an anime.
The fans were all about the animation and simplicity of the plot, and they loved it. (Score – 9/10)
III. Was Season 1 any good?
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was one of the most popular shows of the year due to a reason. It proves that for a show to be good, it’s not always necessary for it to have a complex plot and a deep cast of characters.
Season 1 had great animation, was full of horrifying villains, and incredible fight choreography. While some fans and critics were unhappy with the writing, it was clearly a 9 on 10.
IV. Gotoge’s Health
Koyoharu Gotōge has been writing the manga since early 2016. There is no update on the health of the writer, but this is confirmed that the release is delayed due to coronavirus pandemic.
V. Season 1’s Accomplishments
The anime was a sure shot hit because the fans gave it a thumbs up, and it made them wait every week for the next episode. The show bagged eleven awards at the Animedia Character Awards 2019.
It was also awarded “Anime of the Year” at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
3. Production Update
The delay of news for the second season of the show is due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
There is also a news that the studio, Ufotable, owes a lot of money in tax form. The studio was highly dependant on the success of the Demon Slayer.
Still, the pandemic will definitely take a huge toll on the studio.
No new teaser or trailer for the second season has been released yet.
5. Key Visuals
No key visuals for the second season have been released as of now.
6. Expected Storyline
Season 1 of the show last covered “Rehabilitation Training Arc” consisting of 52 chapters of the manga.
And the upcoming movie is going to cover the 7th arc that is “The Mugen Train Arc,” which includes chapters from 53 to 69.
So, most probably, the second season of Demon Slayer should cover from chapters 70 to 136, up to ‘The Hashira Training Arc.”
7. Cast & Staff
The cast & staff for the second season has not been released yet, but it should include most of the cast & staff from the first season, which is given below.
- Directed by: Haruo Sotozaki
- Produced by: Hikaru Kondo
- Written by: Ufotable
- Music by: Yuki Kajiura & Go Shiina
- Production Company: Ufotable

8. About Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge. Its publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump began in February 2016 with 19 collected tankōbon volumes released as of present.
In a world filled with demons and demon slayers, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the lives of two siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado. They persisted after a great tragedy — the murder of their family at the hands of a demon. Their hardship does not end there, as Nezuko is barely spared to live as a demon.
As the oldest sibling, Tanjiro vows to protect and cure his sister. The story traces the bond of this brother-sister or better yet, demon slayer and demon combo against the odds of an arch antagonist and the society.Originally Written By Epic Dope
