Death Note Special One-Shot Teased Another Chapter In Future

The Death Note manga ended in 2006, and its anime was highly popular in 2006-2007. The series also had its live-action adaptation movie on Netflix in 2017. A one-shot of the manga was announced on 4th Jan, and it has finally hit the stores.

After 12 years of radio silence, an 87 page long one-shot of the Death Note manga has been released, and it blew fans away. What’s more, a continuation of the original manga was also teased on its last page.

Special One-Shot Plot

The chapter opens with Ryuk going back to Earth in hopes of finding another human, like Light Yagami, to feed him apples in exchange for using the Death Note.

Ryuk succeeds in his search as he finds Minoru Tanaka, another extremely smart highschooler.

Minoru has the brilliant idea of selling the Death Note anonymously as its powers were known worldwide after the whole ordeal with Light Yagami, a.k.a. Kira.

Following an equally exciting and complex set of events, Minoru accomplishes his goal. Still, unknown to him the Shinigami King added a new rule which forbids the purchase and sale of the Death Note. This new rule cost Minoru his life.

After the whole story ends, Ryuk is seen wondering if he could find a human who can hold the Death Note longer than Minoru and Light. This teases the possibility of new content being added to the original manga.
