Deadpool 3 writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, assures fans that the upcoming Deadpool 3 will still be as vulgar as its prequels, despite being made under Disney.
After knowing that Deadpool 3 would be made under Disney’s Marvel Studios, fans were worried about Disney toning down the typical vulgarity and dark humor associated with Deadpool. However, the writers confirmed that their beloved character will remain the same.
The first film revolving around Deadpool released in 2016 and grossed over $782 million in the box office. Ryan Reynolds was easily accepted and loved by fans as the titular character and has been playing it ever since.
After the release of Deadpool 2 in 2018, Disney acquired Fox Studios. As a result, the rights to Deadpool, X-Men and Fantastic Four franchise also went to Disney. Later, Deadpool 3 was confirmed to be a production of Marvel Studios by Reynolds himself.
Considering the family-friendly nature of Disney’s Marvel Studios, fans were worried if this meant Deadpool’s trademark vulgar sense of humor would have to be compromised. In an interview with Den of Geek, writers Reese and Wernick cleared such doubts. They said,
Don’t worry about that. They’ve been very supportive with regard to that. Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke.’ But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing, because obviously we were doing it separate from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success. So hopefully it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support, and that’s a great thing to feel. – Rhett Reese and Paul WernickReese and Wernick
They also confirmed that “Deadpool will be Deadpool”. In fact, the duo also went on to explain how Marvel Studios have been incredibly supportive in the making of this film.
Earlier, Fox released a PG-13 cut version of Deadpool 2 dubbed as Once Upon a Deadpool. However, it received mixed to negative reviews and did not live up to its expectations. Thankfully, the upcoming Deadpool 3 will receive the titular character’s vulgar sense of humor.
You can watch Deadpool 1 and 2 on Disney+
