My Hero Academia has been going through the Paranormal Liberation War arc. A single question has been burning in the minds of all MHA fans. Who is Dabi?
A lot of follow-up questions also arise. Why does Dabi hate Endeavor? Is he related to the Todoroki family? Chapter 290 of the My Hero Academia manga has cleared up the muddy waters for all of us.
Dabi’s identity is now out in the open. Although many speculations have already guessed his history spot on, the chapter still delivers many surprises.
Dabi Is Toya Todoroki!
The spoilers of My Hero Academia chapter 290 show that Dabi is finally coming out of the shadows with his past.
When he greets Endeavor and Shouto, Endeavor calls him “Dabi.” However, Dabi says that “Touya is a great name.” Dabi is Shouto’s eldest brother, Touya.
Dabi/Touya starts erasing his hair dye to reveal his actual hair color, and we don’t need to read on to know that it will be crimson red.
All this time, he has only been wanting to make Endeavor’s life miserable. Touya clarifies that he will not let Endeavor forget his past and lead a righteous life.
Touya’s pain runs so deep that he refuses to call Endeavor by his hero name and instead calls him “Enji Todoroki.” It is clear that he does not want to mask any more identities.
Why does Dabi hate Endeavor?
A lot of Endeavor’s abusive behaviors have been revealed in the past. He treated his children as pawns and tried to raise them to become the strongest hero.
However, he failed to realize that somewhere along the way, he is breaking each and every one of them.
Endeavor pushed Touya, Fuyumi, and Natsuo until they couldn’t take it anymore.
Natsuo has also expressed his hatred towards Endeavor in one of the earlier chapters. The three older siblings used to stick together, and Shoto was not raised with them.
Similar to Shoto, Touya has also witnessed the subjugation of his mom. It has deeply affected him, and he holds Endeavor responsible for ruining a lot of lives.
It is ironic how Endeavor set out to make a hero but ended up making a villain.
The scars on Touya’s body might also be from some of the brutal training that Endeavor made him go through. Or maybe it is from when he lost control while fighting someone powerful.
My Hero Academia is not famous because of the hero-villain arc. It is renowned because of the way it points out the duality in humans.
The character of every villain is well developed, and fans cannot help but see the point of view of everyone on the scene.
