Sentai Filmworks is an anime licensing company based in Texas, America. The company emerged after the dissolution of A. D. Vision. It is one of the biggest independent licensors of Japanese anime based in America.
Over the years, Sentai has licensed some notable titles like Akame Ga Kill!, Food Wars: Shokugeki no Souma, Haikyu!!, Parasyte -the maxim- and more.
Crunchyroll, the anime streaming giant, based in America, also streams titles that have been licensed by Sentai Filmworks.
However, earlier today, Crunchyroll announced that 77 of the titles that were formerly available on the website will be removed from the Crunchyroll catalogue starting 1st August.
Sentai Filmworks have licensed all the removed titles.
The Crunchyroll catalogue evolves with time, and new series are added to the collection with Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter Lineups.
However, titles are taken out from the list as the agreements with the licensing companies expire. The reason behind the removal is because of license expiry followed by no attempts of renewal of the contract by Crunchyroll and the licensor.
Another reason for Sentai not renewing the anime rights can be because most of these anime are available on HIDIVE.
HIDIVE is the exclusive carrier of selected works from Sentai Filmworks. Not only does it offer subtitles in several languages, but it also provides a ‘dub cast’ service.
