Complete Boruto Filler List & Guide – Save Your Time

Boruto is an excellent follow-up anime to the events of Naruto. It showcases the differences in the new generation from the old generation that we all know and love.

But not every anime fan has the time to go through 166 episodes to watch the stuff that’s specific only to Boruto’s new Jougan powers. It could take days of binge-watching and quick eyes to look at the hints in the episodes.

Also, as the anime catches up with the manga, fillers need to be added to give enough time to the source material.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime does not have a lot of filllers (contrary to popular belief). As of episode 167, only 31 episodes are confirmed filler episodes.

These episodes give a fresh perspective to the supporting cast, and include various interactions with the original Naruto characters! Some fans even say that there are few easter eggs in the fillers that hint towards the future events.

But, to shorten your watch time you can use the filler list below. You can use the following list to skip the fillers while reading the short summaries to not miss out on anything.

1. Filler Guide for Anime

I. Academy Entrance Arc (1-16)

  • Crisis: The Threat of Failing (16)

Denki learns to walk on the walls using chakra, while Iwabe learns a different method to study. On the day of the test, both get distracted by a few children trapped inside a burning building.

II. Uchiha Sarada Arc (17-24)

  • Run Sarada (17)

The episode focuses on Sarada trying to give a teddy bear to a hospital girl while evading Boruto. She fails when she falls into the river to retrieve the doll and ends up at Boruto’s fishing spot.

III. School Trip Arc (25-33)

  • The Super Beast Scroll Slump (33)

Inojin suddenly becomes unable to use his Super Beast Imitating Drawing. Thus, he accepts Himawari as his master to learn what he was lacking.

IV. Graduation Exams Arc (34-37)

  • The Night of the Shooting Stars (34)

Boruto organizes a camping trip to catch a carp as a way to solidify his bonds in the academy before graduation. Meanwhile, Sakura tells Sarada how long friendships can last.

V. Genin Mission Arc (40-42)

  • Team 7: First Mission (40-41)

Boruto, Mitsuki, and Sarada are sent on their first mission to a small village called Green Banks. Things escalate, and Team 7 needs to rescue Kiri from Rogue Ninjas.

VI. Pre-Chunin Exams Arc (48-50)

  • Genin Documentary (48)

Team 5 is given a mission to appear in a film, but Udon cancels it. Later, Team 5 see the filmmakers in a collapsing building.

  • Wasabi and Namida (49)

Team 15 gets a mission to capture all released animals. However, Wasabi and Namida dispute over work ethics, and Sumire wonders about the Ghost Case.

  • The Chunin Exams: Recommendation Meeting (50)

Shino, Konohamaru, Moegi, and Udon think about their students’ past activities and wonder if they are suited to take the test.

VII. Cho-Cho Arc (67-69)

Team 10 and Team 7 are assigned a joint mission to guard popular actors, Tomaru and Ashina. After Cho-Cho is told to fill in for the lead actress during a mishap, Tomaru gets kidnapped by a masked ninja.

VIII. The Other Side of Anxiety (70)

Metal begins training for the Eight Inner Gates under Rock Lee but succumbs to pressure. He later runs into Might Guy.

IX. Parent and Child Day Arc (93-97)

  • Blood, Sweat, and Namida (96)

Namida uses her cry to knock out her attack, but due to her inability to control her jutsu, she decides to stop crying.

  • Shikadai’s Decision (97)

Shikadai takes a hiatus from ninja missions and decides to enter the Nara clan’s politics.

X. Juugo Arc (98-105)

  • The Little Roommate (104)

Mitsuki takes care of a small cat that appears in place of a jewelry thief during a chase.

  • A Wound on the Heart (105)

Mitsuki begins dreaming in his sleep, so he visits Orochimaru’s Research Facility.

XI. Steam Ninja Scrolls Arc (106-115)

  • The Qualities of a Captain (113)

With Shikadai as captain, Boruto, Iwabe, and Wasabi form a team to bring back a rare flower. However, their progress decreases as they continue to argue.

  • Cards Proxy War (114)

Boruto and his friends collect cards featuring famous ninja from history. However, Boruto and Metal argue over who should be in the last card slot.

  • Team 25 (115)

Kakashi disguises himself as Sukea, the journalist, and observes Team 25, who lack teamwork. He decides to talk with Houki, who dresses like himself.

XII. Konohamaru’s Love Arc (116-119)

Boruto and Konohamaru rescue a woman called Remon and delve right into Remon’s history and her relationship with her village.

XIII. Mujina Bandits Arc (137-151)

  • The Samurai Exchange Student (137)

Sumire joins the Scientific Ninja Tools Team and leaves Team 15. A new member, Tsubaki who is from the Land of Iron, joins them.

  • Hiashi’s Birthday (138)

Boruto has to to select a birthday present for Hiashi, but he doesn’t know what will please him. So, he visits the Hyuuga clan and spies to gather information.

  • The Terror (139)

Enko, a member of Team 40, was possessed by a Summoning Beast as a child and now can manifest its powers. However, she can’t control her powers, so Ibiki tells her to work under him.

  • The Mind Transfer Jutsu that Lost to Potato Chips (140)

Inojin decides to learn the Mind Transfer Jutsu properly from his parents, and Cho-Cho agrees to help him.

XIV. Kara Actuation Arc (152-166)

  • Developing One’s Medical Jutsu (152)

A training class in Medical Ninjutsu is held, and Sarada is chosen for Team 7. Despite Sakura being her mother, Sarada doesn’t have any talent for it and becomes anxious.

  • Harmony in Gold (153)

Tsubaki is highly skilled and proud of her Samurai upbringing, but her mission performance is poor. She devises a plan to improve teamwork by a competition.

  • Himawari’s Ninja Trial Session (154)

Himawari is indecisive over becoming a ninja and attends a Ninja Trial Session to get a taste of the ninja life.

  • Mitsuki’s Rainy Day (155)

Mitsuki finds an injured man who has come to visit his sister. Meanwhile, there is a serial killer on the loose.

  • I Can’t Stay in My Slim Form (156)

Cho-Cho and Anko team up to capture bandits who have been stealing azuki beans in the village.

2. Conclusion

Boruto has one continuous season of 166 episodes out of which 31 are fillers, making the show have only 19% fillers. The timeline is pretty straightforward, and it depends on the viewer’s choice if they want to watch these episodes or not.

3. Must Watch Fillers

While some fillers are boring, the animation of Boruto has the supervision of Kishimoto, and there are many interesting fillers that are a must-watch! Here is the list:

The fillers in Boruto give additional information on characters’ backgrounds and some even give character development to the cast.

However, they provide little to no contribution to the main storyline, so it is completely alright to skip them entirely.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is written and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto, and supervised by Masashi Kishimoto. It came into serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in June 2016.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the series that follows the exploits of Naruto’s son, Boruto, during his academy days and further on. The series follows the character development of Boruto and the looming evil that challenges the fate of him and his loved ones.
