What better way to beat quarantine boredom than reading manga from a variety of genres? You will be sure to land on a very interesting title like Cells at Work.
Another similar work is Yumi’s cells (webtoon), but Cells at Work is quite gory and doesn’t quite focus on cuteness as much as the webtoon.
Bacteria at work/ Cells at Work: Bacteria is a spinoff to Cells at work. According to the July issue of Nakayoshi magazine, the spinoff will reach its conclusion in the next issue. The manga’s final chapter will be published in the July 3rd issue of Nakayoshi.
Bacteria at Work is written and illustrated by Haruyuki Yoshida. It was published by Kodansha in its Nakayoshi magazine in May 2017. It was published is English by Kodansha USA and will be compiled into 7 volumes by August 6.
The spinoff manga is not yet available in English but will soon be published by Kodansha Comics.
The spinoff focuses on the bacteria that live inside the body instead of the original work cells. The bacteria portrayed in the manga live in the guts of a certain high school girl.
It is a generally peaceful community with sudden outbreaks of war among the good and bad bacteria.
Other manga spinoffs to Cells at Work are Cells That Don’t Work, Cells at Work: Code Black, Cells at Work: Friend and Cells at Work: Platelets. An anime adaptation of Cells at Work: Code Black has been announced for release in 2021.
Cells at Work was adapted into an anime in July 2018 and is supposed to get a second season in 2021.
Fans from countries other than Japan are eagerly waiting for the release of Bacteria at Work, translated in English.
