Boruto Ship Thread: Who will Boruto marry?

Some of the debates that fans indulge intake on an impassioned form, for they include the love lives of the characters in Boruto.

Although It may be weird to discuss the love lives of 12-year-olds, the progression of Naruto and its characters have shown that romance is not out of the franchise’s reach. So here we’re going to address the romantic connotations of Boruto’s relationships.

1. Quick Answer

Boruto Uzumaki will marry Sarada Uchiha in the future. They, currently, don’t seem to have any deep romantic feelings or ones they are aware of. But their bond poses a well-developed foundation to become each other’s love interest.

2. Who will Boruto marry?

I. Sarada Uchiha

As members of the new team seven, Sarada and Boruto share a close but often misinterpreted bond. Sarada does not have a crush on Boruto at this point in time. While she merely cares for him as a teammate, new feelings can sprout later.

Boruto and Sarada are the most popular ship within the fandom. Their relationship is so deeply trenched, that they have made a shipper out of their team member Mitsuki.

He claims that they would make a good couple without a shred of caution about what that could actually mean. However, the Boruto and Sarada ship, known as “BoruSara” does have rival ships in the making.

Boruto has been paired with his classmate Sumire with whom he seems to have good chemistry with. Sumire goes on to vocally admit her feelings for Boruto to Sarada.

On the other hand, Sarada has also been shipped with the mysterious Kawaki and Mitsuki. All these ships have potential in the future. By the age of 15 they will start noticing each other more.

This is even true in Naruto, when Naruto only starts displaying affection for Hinata during Shippuden. While meandering through the episodes of Part 1, you can see that Naruto openly flirts with Sakura, but their bond evolves into that of a family and friendship.

Therefore, one needs to keep an eye out for the relationships that the anime develops with romantic underpinnings. But for now, it seems that Boruto and Sarada take the cake.

As childhood friends, they seem to share deep concern and respect for each other. They often bicker with vigor – to the point that the entire class gets involved. Unbeknownst to some, this is usually coded in anime that the pair might develop feelings for each other or already do and are unaware of it.

Boruto and Sarada represent a classic trope of boy and girl argue a lot but secretly care for each other. This was previously represented by Naruto and Sasuke. If Naruto and Sasuke didn’t escape the fan’s shipper lens, then the same fate was inevitable for Boruto and Sarada.

Boruto seems to have shown some moderate interest in Sumire, which makes fans debate whether he actually likes Sarada. He seemed flabbergasted at Magire’s bold confession to Sumire and has gone out of the way to support Sumire when she was antagonized.

Their relationship almost resembled NaruHina until Sumire’s true personality was unveiled, which seemed to be on the bolder end. Since then, Sumire has admitted feelings for Boruto, but the two have less screen time, thereafter.

It goes to show that maybe Boruto had a crush on the Sumire that once was, but after getting to know her better, it developed into a friendship.

Sumire, in the context of Boruto and Sarada, seems to be a plot device for them to question the nature of their bond. Before Sumire admits her feelings, she asks Sarada if she likes Boruto, which Sarada blatantly denies. But one can’t help but realize that such a scene is unnecessary if the creators didn’t wish to create a romantic progression between the two (Boruto and Sarada).

Whereas, another major contender within the fandom is Kawaki and Sarada’s pairing. People have noticed the reclusive nature of Kawaki and his slightly special or distinct treatment of Sarada. But Kawaki and Sarada’s pairing seems rooted in mutual respect and is founded on their admiration for Naruto.

It is seen that Kawaki deeply cares for very few people, and Sarada is one of them. But their time together has not suggested any mutual fondness in terms of romance. Plus, if it were to progress in any way, Kawaki’s descent into darkness in the future will likely make this ship mirror Sasuke and Sakura’s narrative.

For now, at least on Sarada’s part, her respect and care for Kawaki merely stems from platonic feelings. While Boruto and Sarada may bicker a lot, they have gradually become each other’s support systems. They respect each other as ninjas and as people.

They both watch over each other and have always defended each other. This is shown when Sarada reprimands her father, Sasuke, for belittling Boruto’s Rasengan. She shows a genuine understanding of Boruto when she tells Sasuke that it’s rare for Boruto to commit to something.

Their trust in each other is quite deep-rooted and seeps into their faith in each other’s judgments. During the Chunin Exams, Boruto asks Sarada to make the decision for the team when they were unable to get answers to a question about a book.

Similar to the kiss experience that their fathers had, Boruto and Sarada almost accidentally kiss. But it is digested differently in Boruto and Sarada’s context because their bond has a romantic subtext.

Their differences may be plenty, but they share one thing in common: their strained relationships with their fathers. This provides them room for understanding each other in a way no one else can.

While Boruto wishes to take on a shadowy role like Sasuke’s, Sarada wishes to walk Naruro’s path and become a Hokage. Boruto has claimed that he will protect Sarada no matter what, especially once she becomes the Hokage.

This touches Sarada and causes her to blush. Sarada has admitted to herself that what draws her to Boruto the most are his blue eyes – which displays an inkling of attraction.

Whereas, in the novel, it was shown that Boruto feels Sarada’s presence and can feel “her eyes on him,” which urges him to do something good or noticeable in her presence. Although, this sometimes backfires, and he ends up stealing her moment of glory.

But this shows that Boruto and Sarada do notice each other or are aware of each other’s presence despite the comfort zone established as childhood friends. There have been several instances where they have blushed in each other’s presencebut they could easily have a platonic reason behind them.

Merely weighing that as evidence for their feelings would be a dubious argument, but at the same time, it does not close the question of the nature of their relationship. Even Boruto’s act of cheating during the Chunin Exams had two-fold reasons behind it: to impress his father and not let Sarada down.

The latter was not established in the manga and was an addition to the anime, which indicates a certain development that the anime creators are leaning toward.

The amount of effort invested in Boruto and Sarada’s bond, which is charged with raw chemistry and feelings of care, respect, and understanding – it is possible for Boruto and Sarada to marry.

Their relationship seems to be the most developed out of all the other ships which serve as an indication of where the creators’ heads are at.

II. Are Boruto & Sarada dating?

Sarada and Boruto are not dating. Sarada has denied her feelings for Boruto, and they seem to view each other as childhood friends. Since they’re only 12 years old, it is unlikely that we’ll see them date at this age.

The anime, Boruto: Naruto, the Next Generations, is primarily targeting a younger audience. Therefore, any instances of dating between the characters will only take place once they’re older, such as the age of 15-16 or more.
