Boruto is an excellent follow-up anime to the events of Naruto. It showcases the differences between the new generation from the old generation that we all know and love.
But not every anime fan has the time to go through 208 episodes to watch the stuff specific only to Boruto’s new Jougan powers! It could take days of binge-watching and quick eyes to look at the hints in the episodes.
Also, as the anime catches up with the manga, fillers need to be added to give the source material enough time.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime does not have many fillers (contrary to popular belief). As of episode 213 (five new episodes 209, 210, 211, 212, and 213 are yet to be released), only 30 episodes are filler episodes, making up only 14%!
These episodes give a fresh perspective to the supporting cast and include various interactions with the original Naruto characters! Some fans even say that few easter eggs in the fillers hint towards future events.
If you’re really skeptical of fillers, though, use the list below to skip them!

Are Boruto Fillers Actually Canon?
Filler lists for anime are usually made by the fans and not released by the studios.
In most cases, it is pretty easy to guess which episode is filler and which is not because if the anime doesn’t follow a particular plot of the manga, that part becomes a filler.
However, in the case of Boruto, the manga shows us the highlights of main anime arcs and hence does not include every single thing from the manga itself.

The creators have even stated that the entire anime is canon and disregarded all the episodes labeled as filler by the fans.
The truth is, the filler episodes, while not being a part of the manga, are still canon because initially, Boruto manga and anime were autonomous.
Boruto manga needed some time to develop new stories and did not want the anime to overtake its current timeline, so some parallel stories were added to the anime.
You can still skip all the filler episodes listed above as they do not affect the main plot at all and are just there to give additional information on characters’ backgrounds. Some even give character development to the cast!
Conclusion
As we all know, the Boruto manga and Boruto anime made their debut almost at the same time. As a result, both mediums use fillers to free up time for additional content to be adapted into different versions.
Not all fillers are a waste of time and they can sometimes provide great insight in knowing a particular character arc, other than the usual canon episodes.
But the quantity of it definitely determines one’s attention span to stick with the anime.
Although the anime has been delayed by a week, the dates of the new five unreleased episodes, i.e., episodes 209-213 have been released:
Episodes | Release Date |
209 (Anime Exclusive) | 1 August 2021 |
210 (Anime Exclusive) | 8 August 2021 |
211(Anime Exclusive) | 15 August 2021 |
212 (Canon) | 22 August 2021 |
213(Canon) | 29 August 2021 |

1 reply on “Boruto Fillers: How Many Fillers Are There?”
“Contrary to popular belief there aren’t many fillers” sorry to burst your bubble but anything that isn’t in the Manga (the original story) is considered filler, and about 75% of the anime is Anime Canon, which is not canon in regards to the Manga. Popular belief is correct, and only 25% of the Anime episodes feature stories portrayed in the Manga.
