Burakku Buretto, which is popularly known as ‘Black Bullet,’ is a post-apocalyptic action and sci-fi series which was well-received back in 2014 upon its release.

Despite being a 13-episode series and airing for only three months, the show gathered a considerable fanbase and was a commercial success.

The anime series adapted the first four novels; there was enough source material for a second installment. Since 2014, the show’s fans have been waiting for the second season’s announcement.

1. Season 2 Release Date

There is no official confirmation on a Black Bullet Season 2 by its studio, Kinema Citrus.

There is little chance of a new season of the series, as the production team has kept quiet on this matter. But with a lot of material left to still cover, there is still hope!

The production studio of the action anime series is widely known for not making the second season of most of the shows it works upon.

Although in Fall 2014, the studio released a special ‘Black Bullet: Tenchuu Girls’, which instilled hope among the fans that the next season isn’t far away.

The artwork is standard in most of the show and is decent when it comes to an action sequence. The setting is quite befitting and resonates with the series.

II. Shiden Kanzaki’s Health

Shiden Kanzaki is the author of the famous ongoing Light Novel ‘Black Bullet.’ He is currently probably working on the eighth volume of Black Bullet.

For the past several years, it has been mentally draining for him to work and has taken a bunch of breaks. He is physically in good health, though.

III. Why is Kanzaki on a hiatus?

When the anime aired, he got a severe negative backlash from the community, plus the extra workload made his simple dream into an eerie nightmare.

He loved writing before; one can feel the passion when they read the LNs, but now it feels like a chore, and he, at times, almost loses his will to continue the series. That’s why he goes on hiatus often.

Let’s move on to the production updates, few gullible rumors about the author, and the storyline of the second season.

3. Production Update

So far, there has been no word regarding Black Bullet S2 getting produced.

Rumors

Shiden Kanzaki is well known for going on a hiatus frequently. The reason being the overwhelming pressure pounded upon him when the anime got aired. It’s been six years since he published any new volume of the LN. The seventh volume was released back in April 2014.

There are rumors about Kanzaki dropping the LN and working as a restaurant owner currently. He gave up on Black Bullet and instead adjusted to a normal life.

His last tweet in March 2015 stated that he is cooling down as of now. Furthermore, his tweets aren’t encouraging; they seem lifeless and unmotivated. It looks like the rumors might be true after all.

There is no news regarding any PV or trailer.

6. Expected Storyline of Season 2

An old friend from Rentaro’s childhood reappears out of the blue, and before the protagonist could process anything, he is imprisoned for a false murder. He plans for an escape, but his enemies keep obstructing him like never before.

Although he is able to escape from the nightmare, he is still not free. Rentaro is still a fugitive in the eyes of the law and is relentlessly pursued by Police Superintendent Hitsuma.

Meanwhile, the governors of the five main areas in Japan came together to attend a summit to discuss the grave dangers they were facing.

Then came the news of Tokyo being in possession of the Legacy of Seven Stars, this leads the other areas to wage war on Tokyo. Amidst the chaos, Seitenshi mysteriously disappeared.  The new season packs plenty of action and thrills.

8. About Black Bullet

Black Bullet is a light novel series penned by Shiden Kanzaki and illustrated by Saki Ukai; it began its serialization under Dengeki Bunko from July 10, 2011. Seven volumes have been published as of yet. A manga series began serializing in August 2012 in Dengeki Maoh.

Kinema Citrus adapted the Light Novel series into Anime Television Series, and the first episode aired on April 8, 2014.
