At first, this anime appears to be a light-hearted comedy but that is not the case. The slow discovery of Rikka’s condition makes for excellent drama and some raw emotion that you would not expect to feel when beginning to watch the show.

Watch BEASTARS on:

The series discovers the dynamics between herbivores and carnivores in an anthropomorphic animal world. I personally enjoy the portrayal of Legoshi’s internal conflict while discovering his feelings for Haru. Also, this is probably the only anime where the use of CG is actually good.

The story takes place in a world of anthropomorphic animals, where Legoshi, a grey wolf is a student at the Cherryton Academy high school. He is a part of the drama club, where an alpaca is murdered which causes cold conflict between herbivore and carnivore students.

3. Toradora

Toradora!

Watch Toradora! on:

This is one of the few series where the slow build-up to the main romance is actually worth it. Although Ryuji and Taiga interact throughout the series, they do not discover the true nature of their relationship until the very end of the show. I find this especially refreshing as the discovery is especially rewarding, given the buildup throughout the run of the show.

Ryuji Takasu is a second-year high school student with an intimidating face, leading to people mistaking him as a delinquent despite his gentle nature. He is best friends with Yusaku Kitamura and Minori Kushieda, the girl he has a crush on.

This is a heart-touching story involving an ending you do not wish for. This series is full of impressive musical performances, which are enhanced by the circumstances. Kosei’s development is easily one of the best, with Kaori acting as a catalyst.
