The number of memes that have emerged from the ‘Zeke running away from Levi’ scene is way too many. Zeke’s face, when Levi caught upto him, is also worth mentioning.

The fight scene between Levi and the Beast Titan is no doubt the highlight of episode 14.

1. Episode 14/73

I. “I am Free”

As soon as Eren meets Armin and Mikasa in episode 14, he claims: “I am free. He goes on to explain that Zeke and Yelena are not manipulating him. However, he claims Armin and Mikasa are the ones getting manipulated.

Armin has a piece of Bertholdt inside him, and thus he visits Annie and sympathizes with the enemy. Mikasa is an Ackerman whose instinct has been awakened by Eren, and she fights only because she is an Ackerman.

However, Eren crosses a line when he says that he hates Mikasa and calls her a slave. At this comment, Armin gets enraged and punches Eren in the face. As time passes, Eren’s eyes seem to be even more emotionless and dead than before.

However, the intensity with which Eren damns Armin and Mikasa seems forced and too harsh. Is it possible that he is actually trying to distance himself and his friends?

Maybe, inside he still wants to protect them and thinks that their best chance at survival is to stay away from him. Considering how Mikasa and Armin can endanger their lives for Eren, anytime, anywhere, it is a plausible move.

II. Levi vs. the Beast Titan (and 30 Other Titans)

Once again, we are reminded of the true prowess of Levi. He was not called the true devil of Paradise in vain. After Zeke’s spinal fluid turned around 30 of his comrades to titans, he slashed and hacked through each and every one of them and emerged in one piece.

As if that wasn’t enough to drain his energy, he caught upto Zeke and defeated the Beast Titan as well. It is not every day that you get to see such an awesome action scene accompanied by heart-thumping music.

His comrades’ death fueled Levi’s anger even more, and when he tortured Zeke by cutting off his limbs, again and again, we can’t feel a shred of sympathy for Zeke.

Levi has just killed too many of his comrades, and we do not expect mercy towards the man who had planned it that way.

2. Episode 15/74

Attack on Titan Final Season’s Episode 15 may not have been too big on the action scenes, but it did clarify Zeke’s plan of liberating Eldians. As Levi tortures his physical body, Zeke’s subconscious escapes to his childhood.

You might think that we are finally getting a fluffy childhood throwback, but it is not quite so. Attack on Titan is not meant for cute scenes, and we see the trauma that Zeke had dealt with.

Grisha used his family for his own selfish goals, and it has created more than one monster.

I. Zeke’s Scheme And Incentive

Grisha Yeager treated Zeke as an opportunity to avenge Faye’s death. He never even thought about what his son was going through and kept pushing him for the sake of the Eldians. Zeke grew up with conflicting education and ideals.

His grandparents and Marley taught him that he needs to repent for the sins of Eldia, while his parents taught him the exact opposite and wanted him to liberate the Eldians.

Soon, Zeke couldn’t take it anymore, and to save himself and his grandparents, he surrendered his parents over to Marley.

II. Salvation or Mass Extinction?

When Zeke was ready to inherit the Beast Titan, he learned from Mr. Ksavas that the Founding Titan can not only manipulate memories of Eldians, but it can also modify their bodies.

The idea struck Zeke that if he somehow gets control over the Founding Titan, he can modify the bodies of all Eldians so that they can never reproduce. Then, the titans won’t be passed on to the next generation anymore.

Both Eren and Zeke have agreed on this plan. Both Eren and Zeke have endured enough torture and trauma to have a negative attitude towards life.

For them, mass genocide is the lesser of two evils and thus the only way out of the never-ending cycle of violence.

Watch Attack on Titan on:

The episode ends with a frightening explosion that has left all Attack on Titan fans praying for their favorite character. Levi has been caught up in a blast that Zeke caused.

Both Hajime Isayama and the anime staff know how to truly torture the series’ fans!

Eren readily accepted Zeke’s plan. In fact, the agreement was so smooth that it is suspicious! Does Eren have another plan up his sleeve, or will the brothers walk towards the destruction of Eldia, hand in hand?
