This episode’s action differs from that of the previous episodes as it shows not just humans vs titans but also a grand battle of titans against their own kind.

With MAPPA handling the new season, a lot of us were expecting greater things from the anime. Who knew that the anime would give us what we expected and a lot more?

The animation of every frame is stunning and well-orchestrated, to say the least.

1. Who are the Real Devils?

Galliard realizes that the actual devils of Paradis are these fighters who are attacking him with no hesitation even though they are just mere humans.

However, we are still not sure who the real devils in this narrative are. Is it Eren or Reiner? Is it the people of Paradis or Marley? Who is at a bigger loss, and who should we root for?

It is almost like Hajime Isayama is having fun confusing fans. Gabi and Falco are almost in the same position as Mikasa and Eren when they were kids. It is a war that extends beyond generations, and cruelty doesn’t stop.

On the other hand, Falco desperately tries to save Reiner but realizes the futility as Reiner has lost the will to live. We realize just how broken Reiner is.

2. Arrival of the Colossal Titan

Just as Pieck and Galliard were discussing that the Paradis forces have no way to escape and that the battle is in their favor, a huge eruption occurs near the port. Armin transformed into the Colossal Titan and destroys the Marleyan fleet.

He stands atop his titan and examines his surroundings. The bloodshed that he had caused affects him, unlike Eren. Both Mikasa and Armin are now standing opposite Eren who is climbing atop a mountain of corpses.

Meanwhile, the Beast titan and the Cart titan are taken out by the Scout Regiment, and an enraged Galliard rushes towards Eren.

3. War Hammer Titan Consumed!

Eren bites into the crystallized form of Lara but breaks his teeth while doing it. He realizes that the crystal is too hard for him to break.

However, he knows that Lara is exhausted and does not have any more options left. He leaves his impaled titan body and makes another one to the surprise of all other titans.

As the Jaw titan comes charging at him, Eren uses Lara as a shield, and Galliard’s nails scratch Lara’s crystal. Eren instantly realizes what he has to do next.

As the War Hammer Titan rushes in for an attack, Mikasa cuts off his legs. Eren grabs the opportunity and tears off his arms. The scene is gory, to say the least, but the next scene makes us question Eren’s humanity.

Eren shoves Lara inside the Jaw Titan’s mouth and uses him almost as a tool to crack open Lara’s crystallized form. As blood gushes out of the crystal, Eren drinks it all and acquires the War Hammer Titan.

We are forced to question, where is the Eren we knew? It seems like his status as an anti-hero will only get stronger from this moment on.

4. Reiner is Back!

As Gabi and Falco shout to Reiner for help, Reiner is awakened from his unconsciousness. He wants to be left at peace to die, but he transforms into the Armoured Titan, stopping Eren from eating Galliard next.

The next episode will no doubt have more action in store for us as the Armoured Titan has arrived, and so has reinforcements from Paradis.

Gabi still has an important role to play in the battle of massive monsters. The bloodbath is yet to stop. Let’s wait and watch!
