ASUS previously announced that they were going to release a new graphics card under the “TUF OG” branding. Not much was revealed about the card other than a teaser. It was previously believed to be a new NVIDIA SKU but turns out that it’s actually a bit different than that.
ASUS has now unveiled two new GeForce RTX 4090 cards under the TUF OG branding. Interestingly, the card will be equipped with a TUF cooler that was previously featured in the RTX 3090 Ti. So, this card is basically a refresh of the TUF design seen in the RTX 3090 series.
The ASUS GeForce RTX TUF OG graphics card will be released in two variants, an OC and a non-OC variant. Both will feature the same design, but the OC variant will have a 2565 base clock and up to a 2595 MHz boost clock in OC mode.
You’ll notice from the images above that the PCB of the TUF OG card has a much larger PCB unlike the updated 2022 design, even though both RTX 4090 and RTX 3090 GPUs are pin-compatible. The cooling solution, on the other hand, is just like the RTX 3090 Ti’s cooling solution.
The TUF OG RTX 4090 cards are thinner and slimmer than the newer RTX 4090 TUF gaming designs. The TUF OG cards will offer a 3.2-slot instead of a 3.65-slot and will measure 32.6 cm instead of 34.8 cm.
The pricing of these cards is yet to be revealed by ASUS. We can expect the prices to be a bit lower than the standard TUF gaming cards since it’s essentially a refresh of the design seen in the RTX 3090 series, and the cooling system is reused from the RTX 3090 Ti.
