Are Asta and Yuno blood-related? Are they brothers?

Asta and Yuno were left together at a church in Hage village. They were raised together as foster brothers and grew up to support and rival each other. Recently, Yuno’s past and origins were revealed.

But, what about Asta? Where did he come from? What are his origins? Are Asta and Yuno blood-related?

1. Are Asta and Yuno blood-related?

Asta and Yuno are not blood-related. They were indeed left together at the orphanage, however, as it was revealed in the manga, Yuno is from a royal lineage of the family that ruled the Spade kingdom.

He was left at the church after an attack on his family – the House of Grinberryall. This makes it clear that Yuno and Asta are not blood-related even though Asta might have origins tracing back to the Spade Kingdom.

2. Are Asta and Yuno brothers?

Asta and Yuno were left at the orphanage in Hage village together. But they are not brothers. As they grew up, they couldn’t be more different. One had an abundance of mana, while the other was mana less.

In the latest chapters, it is finally revealed that Yuno is from a royal lineage of the family that ruled the Spade kingdom.

He was left at the church due to an attack on his family — the House of Grinberryall. Even though he is foster brothers with Asta, they are not blood brothers. Their origins are not the same.

3. What is Asta’s origin?

Asta’s origins were very simple at the beginning of the series. He was a simple orphan and was brought up and raised in Hage village.

However, as his powers grew, it became easier to assume that maybe Asta’s origins were not as simple as shown.

One of the few theories says that Asta is the child of a demon and a mage, who’s powers cancelled each other out and resulted in Asta being mana-less.

Another theory says that Asta might be the reincarnation of the bloodline of Licht and Tetia. There are many others, including these that sound pretty interesting but, unfortunately, cannot be proved.

Recently, one small hint about Asta’s origin was released, but it was under a truly harrowing moment that has happened so far. Dante, one of the members of the Dark Triad, has attacked the Black Bulls base looking for Captain Yami, and Asta is losing despite all of the progress he’s made so far to stop them.

Dante and Asta’s views on humanity clashed, and Dante decided to make Asta see his way. At that moment, Asta saw one of his parents, who were also stabbed at some point. We don’t get to see what his parent looks like, but we know they were stabbed in the chest and that they referred to Asta as their dear son

4. What is Yuno’s origin?

In recent chapters, Yuno’s ancestry was revealed. We now know that his father’s name was Ciel Grinberryall, one of the monarchs of the Spade Kingdom.

This makes Yuno the Prince of the Spade Kingdom and its rightful ruler. In Black Clover Chapter 234, we saw a glimpse of Yuno’s life before he reached the Hage Village.

The identity of Yuno’s mom was also revealed; her name is Lois Grinberryall and looks a lot like him. Ciel Grinberryall can also be seen giving the pendant to Yuno as some sort of protection. It was after Yuno’s birth that the Dark Triad started their operations.

It was thanks to the follower of the Grinberryall family that Yuno and the retainer managed to escape. This is an important chapter, as it reveals that Asta and Yuno were not brought together in Hage village.
