The Blue Orchestra Anime to Premiere This April

On February 8, NHK announced that the television anime adaptation of Makoto Akui’s manga The Blue Orchestra will premiere on April 9, 2023.

The anime will be directed by Seiji Kishi at Nippon Animation. Yuuko Kakihara will write and oversee the series scripts, with Kazuaki Morita as the character designer. Jun Sakata will serve as the anime’s production supervisor and chief producer.

Ryota Higashi is the violist for the character Hajime Aono.

The manga is published by the Indonesian publisher Elex Media. The plot of the manga, as described by Elex Media, is as follows:

“In the fall of his third and final year of middle school, Hajime Aono, a violin prodigy, stopped playing violin for his own personal reasons.

But it was also that year when he got to know a girl who told him about a high school with a prestigious school orchestra.

Suddenly, the gears in the clock of Aono’s life began to turn again. This is the story of a youth drama that brings forth the harmony between music and the heart!”

Akui launched the ongoing manga in Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app in 2017.

Blue Orchestra is a manga series by Makoto Akui. It started serialization on the MangaONE and Ura Sunday platforms starting April 2017.

The manga is about Aono, a boy who is a violin prodigy but quit playing due to personal reasons. He meets Akine, a feisty girl, in school who inspires him to take up playing again. In their journey, not only will they improve their performances, but also heal their trauma together.
