However, due to COVID-19, the release date is now extended to October 2020. The anime seems like one of those kinds which you don’t see often these days.

It is a story of redemption spiced with crime, politics, and corruption. Now it looks like the anime will have its manga counterpart, which is a rare event in this industry.

Akudama Drive’s official website announced yesterday that an Akudama Drive anime-inspired manga by Rokurou Ōgaki (The Unlimited – Hyōbu Kyōsuke) is coming out on July 7.

The manga will debut on Renta!, a website for rental manga, with its first two chapters. Each chapter will have 24 pages, and the manga will follow a monthly schedule.

Ogaki Rokurou is in charge of the project. The first two chapters will cost 100 Yen combined, while each chapter after that will cost 60 Yen.

Ogaki previously launched a manga adaptation of The Unlimited – Hyobu Kyosuke spinoff anime in Shogakukan’s Shonen Sunday Super magazine in 2013. He also published Horosha, a two-chapter manga spinoff of both Zettai Karen Children and The Unlimited – Hyobu Kyosuke combined, in Shonen Sunday S magazine in 2015.

About Akudama Drive

It is an original anime adapted by Too Kyo Games and Studio Pierrot.

Long ago, the world was torn because of the war which arose between KANSAI and KANTO. Eventually, KANSAI came under the reign of KANTO and became independently developed.

However, it all fell apart when the whole area became crime-infested, where police force and political powers were mere gimmicks.

The perpetrators of the events which led to the decline of this ‘high-developed but twisted society‘ were criminals known as ‘Akudama‘. But how do these so-called criminals act in society? The virtues of the Akudama gathered here will clash.
