Studio Colorido announced that the film would premiere exclusively on Netflix on June 18, globally. Initially, it was set to open in Japan on June 5 but got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.

A Whisker Away revolves around Miyo Sasaki, a student who is in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. The problem is, Kento never notices her.
She discovers a mask that can transform her into a cat named Taro; she can now grab the attention of Kento, who adores cats.
The more transformation she undertakes, the more she sacrifices her humanity, which leads to the risk of erasing the boundary between a cat and a human. You can expect a lot of plot twists as the story is written by Okada Sensei.

The upcoming Netflix original, A Whisker Away, is co-directed by Junichi Sato and Tomotaka Shibayama and written by Mari Okada. This would be the second feature-length production from Studio Colorido.

6. About A Whisker Away
This original film revolves around Miyo “Muge” Sasaki, a bizarre second-year junior high student who is desperately in love with Kento Hinode, her classmate.
Despite her best efforts, Kento seems to take no notice of her, so she decides to kick things up a notch. Muge discovers a magic mask that allows her to transform into a cat named Tarō.
The magic lets Muge get close to Hinode, but soon, the borders between her life as a cat and as a human begin to fade.
