Romance anime doesn’t have to be sappy and sentimental to be enjoyable; actually, sometimes romance is all the more moving when it also makes you laugh, and that wonderful combination of emotions can be found in the comedy-romance series ‘A Condition Called Love.’
Megumi Morino’s shoujo manga ‘A Condition Called Love’ follows the relationship of high schooler Hotaru Hinase, a young girl who has never experienced romantic love and isn’t even sure she’s capable of it, and Hananoi Saki, the school’s notorious hopeless romantic loner.
On Wednesday, a website was launched to publicize the television anime adaptation of Megumi Morino’s A Condition Called Love (Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai) manga, which is set to air in 2024. The website also unveiled the teaser image for the upcoming anime.
The teaser visual shows our two main leads, Hananoi with a gentle smile and Hotaru, who seems to jump unto his chest for a hug. Morino sensei also drew an illustration to celebrate the anime announcement.
Morino sensei debuted the manga in December 2017 in Kodansha’s Monthly Dessert magazine. On June 13, Kodansha will release the manga’s 13th compiled book volume. The manga has sold over 3.8 million copies. In 2021, the manga won the Best Shoujo Manga award at Kodansha’s 45th Manga Awards.
A Condition Called Love is a really great manga series as it follows a somewhat unconventional courtship and love story about two young people discovering what love really is and how best to express it to each other.
About A Condition Called Love
A Condition Called Love is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Megumi Morino.
The story revolves around Hotaru, a 16-year-old high school first-year who has always been ambivalent about love, preferring instead to have a lively life with her family and friends.
So when she sees her schoolmate, Hananoi-kun, sitting in the snow after a messy, public breakup, she thinks nothing of offering to share her umbrella. But when he asks her out in the middle of her classroom the next day, she can’t help but feel that her life is about to change in a big way.
