‘Detective Conan: Iron Submarine’ Film to Follow a Tech-Based Plot

Detective Conan is working on making an appearance in the franchise’s 26th anime film, ‘Kurogane no Submarine.’ All we know about this film is that Ai Haibara is the focus, and Conan will save the day once again.

What’s more, the film will dig into both of these characters’ shared pasts, as the Black Organization is the antagonist in this one. This much information is more than enough to make any fan thrilled out of their mind.

Keeping that in mind, the franchise has shared the official storyline of the ‘Detective Conan: Iron Submarine’ film with a dramatic trailer. The film will open in Japan on April 14, 2023, and more information on its global release will be revealed shortly.

劇場版『名探偵コナン 黒鉄の魚影(サブマリン)』特報【2023年4月14日(金)公開】
Theatrical version “Detective Conan Black Iron Fish Shadow (Submarine)” special report [released on April 14, 2023 (Friday)

This 30-second teaser packed a range of emotions from thrilling to tragic, which honestly sent chills down my spine. More than that, the video has so much going on that you’ll miss an essential detail in the blink of an eye, so I suggest watching it a few times.

It begins with the Black Organization members Vermouth, Chianti, and Gin, signifying that the evil syndicate is on the move again. Haibara is startled by Gin’s presence behind her, who shoots at her, triggering the movie’s events.

Right after that, we are introduced to the FBI agent Shuichi Akai, Conan, Rei Furuya, and more. The video ends on a dreadful note as we hear Ai’s plea for help in the background.

The official website reveals that the plot will take place on Hachijō-jima island, south of central Tokyo. A new law enforcement camera system is being launched there, and various engineers from around the world are coming to witness it.

The system connects cameras worldwide and enables facial recognition, making it a massive help for the law but a deadly weapon in the wrong hands. As expected, Conan and the Black Organization are also attending the launch event.

Conan is informed that the organization’s Gin has murdered a Europol agent in Germany. While Conan feels anxious about the killing, the Black Organization kidnaps an engineer from the event whose USB holds some crucial information.

Considering Haibara’s past with the organization, she’s expected to be a target this time since it is a tech-driven story. Haibara is one of the brightest minds of the age, and no wonder the organization wants her dead after she left them.

I’m sure she’ll somehow fit into the plot, but the question remains how. After all, this is a Detective Conan movie, so you can never predict what will happen.
